Phyllis Christianson, 74, of Evansville, died Monday, February 15, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1941 in Osakis, MN to Jess and Norma (Harth) Maus. She was baptized in Sauk Centre and confirmed at Osakis Lutheran Church. She grew up on a farm where she loved being outdoors and helping with the chores and field work. She attended a rural school for her first six years and graduated from Osakis High School in 1959 as an honor student. Phyllis worked as church secretary at Osakis Lutheran Church. Her other jobs included working at a bank in Alexandria and the state treasurer's office in St. Paul. On August 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Roger Christianson at Osakis Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Evansville where Phyllis worked at the bank for several years. They moved to Osakis in 1986 where she and Roger owned and operated a fast food restaurant and campground. They moved back to Evansville in 1997 where Phyllis worked at the hardware store and Moe Urness Lund Township Mutual in Brandon until retiring in November of 2002.
Phyllis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, was a past Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, circle chairperson, youth league advisor and ladies aid president. Her hobbies included bowling, snowmobiling, sewing, scrapbooking, and watching high school sports. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Timothy Christianson and his wife Terri of Evansville, two grandsons: Brandon and Bradee Christianson; two granddaughters: Melissa (Aaron) Olson of Ashby and Michelle (Troy) Lohse of Elbow Lake; eight great-grandchildren: Jordan, Adam, Ashlyn and Jada Lohse and Torin, Addison, Aaron, Jr. "A.J." and Bentley Olson; siblings: Dwayne (Faye) Maus of Osakis, Marlys Anderson of Port Charlotte, FL and Darwin (Carol) Maus of Osakis, a sister-in-law: Janice Burstyn of East Aurora, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Norma Maus, her husband Roger, her daughter, Karen, a brother-in-law Arnold Anderson and one nephew, Shannen Maus.
