Reese Holm

Reese Charles Holm was born May 1, 1980, in Aitkin, MN to Paul and Laurie (Watson) Holm. Reese was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Aitkin. During his time in Aitkin, Reese was active in Little League, bowling, and enjoyed fishing. Reese attended Rippleside Elementary School through second grade, and from then on attended Palisade Elementary School.
In 1992, the family relocated to Elbow Lake, MN. Reese attended West Central Area Schools, where he found his love for football, wrestling, and baseball. Reese attended school in Fergus Falls, MN for a short time, before returning to Aitkin in 1998 to be closer to family.
On August 19, 2005, Reese married Kerri Metz in Fergus Falls, MN.
Throughout the years, Reese had many jobs: working as a cook at Grand Casino, Mabel Murphy's, and Debbie's, to name a few. He also worked at the state hospital as a personal care assistant. Reese had an enormous heart and would always gravitate towards the elderly and those with special needs. Even though Reese enjoyed being active, he struggled with diabetes for the past 30 years of his life.
Reese was a very family oriented individual and especially loved his children. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, softball, and golf with his friends, especially with Craig, Nate, Scott, and Carl.
After a 30 year struggle, Reese lost his battle with diabetes on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the age of 31.
Reese is survived by his wife, Kerri; daughter, Xyola; son, Isaiah; father, Paul; and mother, Laurie Holm; sisters, Shannon (Brian) Gilbuena and Amber Jones; in-laws, Lonnie (Thomas) Larson and Kevin (Doris) Metz; brothers-in-law, Kyle Metz and Taylor Larson; maternal grandparents, Charles and Carolyn Watson; Kerri's grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Stevens and Helen Metz; Kerri's step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Larson; many nieces and nephews: Camron and Brieanna Greenley, Tristen Vallevand, Kaylea Anderson, Dominique Hemingsen, Nicole and Anna Jones, Zachary Seaburg, and Ezra Gillbuena; many other family and friends.
Reese was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marius and Connie Holm; a cousin, Kathy Lamke; and Kerri's grandfather, Edward Metz.
Visitation: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, July 21, 2011, in Pioneer Home Chapel, Fergus Falls, and 1 hour prior to services at church.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, July 22, 2011, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls.
Interment and Graveside Service: 1 PM, Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Waukenabo Cemetery, Aitkin County, MN.
