Together they served Moravian churches in Mount Bethel and Willow Hill in Virginia; Hopewell Winston-Salem, NC; and Dillingham, Alaska.

Rev. Gilbert served the Elbow Lake Presbyterian Church and the Ashby Presbyterian Church for the past 15 years. He was active in Boy Scouting and Campfire and was a fixture on Fergus Falls soccer fields as a referee for many years.
