Rhonda Rossum, 59, of Ashby died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Ashby Living Center under the care of Lakeland Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.
Rhonda Lynn Rossum was born on December 13, 1954 the daughter of Orville and Lillian (Larson) Jacobson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Pelican Lake Lutheran Church and graduated from the Ashby High School in 1972. She continued her education for one year at the Lowthian College in Minneapolis, studying Fashion and Design.
Rhonda and Richard Rossum were married on July 1, 1978. They had one son, Michael, who was born on October 2, 1982. Rhonda worked for the First State Bank and in April of 1980, the family started Lakeside Lumber. Rhonda and her dad, Orville owned and operated the Village Outlet Variety Store in Ashby. She was later employed with the US Bank, Barnes and Noble and Target all of Fargo, working in the retail sales and customer service areas. She lovingly took care of her mother for many years, and always enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was a good friend to many. Rhonda liked Facebook and was able to stay in touch and reconnect with old friends. She also enjoyed online shopping and reading. She enjoyed her family and especially her grandsons, Levi and Evan. Rhonda was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ashby Homemakers.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Heather) Rossum of Ashby; two grandsons, Levi and Evan Rossum; special friend Feriz Fejzic; and by numerous relatives and friends. Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Lillian Jacobson and her former husband, Richard Rossum.
Memorial Service: 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby.
Visitation: Monday from 4 to 7 pm with a 6:30 pm Prayer Service at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Ashby
