Richard Harding, 78 who lived on Crane Lake of rural Battle Lake died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at St. Francis Health in Breckenridge.
Richard Jack Harding was born on June 29, 1938, in Council Bluffs, Iowa the son of Paul and Frances (Fox) Harding. He attended the Abraham Lincoln High School graduating in 1956, and then furthered his education at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa where he received his AA Degree. Richard had several courses in photography at the University of Omaha in Nebraska.
Richard and Sharon Packer were married on August 18, 2001, in Fargo, North Dakota. After their marriage they lived in their home on Crane Lake, of rural Battle Lake. He had operated his own studio, Harding Studio in Council Bluffs for twenty years, and then went on the road as a salesman selling photographic supplies until his retirement in 2012. Richard had lived all of his life in Council Bluffs until 1999, when he moved to Minnesota. He was ordained at the age of sixteen serving several congregations in Iowa, and once in Minnesota he became the Pastor of Community of Christ Church in Clitherall. Richard enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and enjoyed flying small aircraft, and had been a pilot for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; four children, Scott Harding of Independence, MO., Sally (John) Funk of Overland Park, KS., Cortney Harding of Minneapolis, MN., and Paul (Megan) Harding of Claremont, CA.; five grandchildren, Hannah, Samuel, Abigail, Clara and Sadie; and by numerous relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Frances Harding.
Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Community of Christ Church in Clitherall.
Visitation: one hour prior at the church.
