Richard A. Lindahl, 86, of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls.
He was born January 8, 1929 in Benson, MN to Marvin and Myrtle (Larsen) Lindahl. He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1947. After graduation, he attended St. Thomas in St. Paul for one year. Richard then began employment with the Swift County Bank in Benson. He was a member of the Minnesota National Guard for four years. On December 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Joan Ogren in Glenwood, MN. To this union, three children were born. In 1965, Richard left the bank and moved to Altus, OK where he owned and operated the Friendship Inn for four years and then moved back to Benson where he became the owner of Richard's Clothing Store. A short time later, he made his way back to banking at the savings and loan. He was divorced in 1973 and moved to Breckenridge, MN to manage the savings and loan there. In July of 1974, he was united in marriage to Renee Thomas. Richard became a step-father to Renee's five year old daughter, Jennifer. After his retirement, Richard and Renee moved to Fergus Falls where they have lived ever since then.
Richard enjoyed golfing, listening to jazz music, especially Frank Sinatra, baking and watching movies and sports. He was a devoted husband and a caregiver to Renee.
Richard is survived by his wife, Renee Lindahl of Fergus Falls, his children: Rick (Terri) Lindahl of Ft. Collins, CO, Patty Schmidt of Hastings, MN and Mary Jo LaBorde of Hastings, MN, his step-daughter, Jennifer Strickland of Newport News, VA, a sister, Debbie Tweet, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
