Robert Henneman, 66, of Evansville, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice of Douglas County.
Robert Alan Henneman was born on November 16, 1949 in Evansville, the son of Arthur and Amy (Lindemyer) Henneman. He was raised on his home farm in Evansville Township and graduated from Evansville High School in 1967.
Bobby and Jeanine Gacusana were married on July 9, 1977. In 1978 they bought their farm just south of Evansville where the couple raised their family. They milked cows until 2003 when they sold the herd and Bob continued to grain farm organically and conventionally for the rest of his life. First and foremost, Bobby was a farmer - tilling, planting, harvesting; milking, calving, hauling manure; enriching the soil and trying to leave the land more fertile and humus than it had previously been.
Through the years Bob was active in various farm boards and organizations, he served on the school board and he served as a member of the church council. He was appreciated for his diplomacy and level-headed thinking. An important lesson Bob taught his children was to be open-minded and consider everyone's viewpoint before making a decision.
Bob loved hunting and visiting with his friends, swapping hunting tales and telling jokes. He enjoyed music and, frankly, loved a good party. His laughter would be heard above all others.
But most important to him were his children and grandchildren. Nothing made him smile more than to be surrounded by them all. He looked forward to and cherished every visit and talk they would have.
He is survived by his wife Jeanine and children Heather, Ethan (Sherry), Bethany (Chad Ouren) and Matthew (Miranda); grandchildren Ashley, Holly, Cole, Caden, Winton, Grace, Kinley and Luke; siblings Jake (Marlo), Don (Sharon), Carl (Margaret), Sandra Henneman and Debbie (LeRoy Shea). He was preceded in death by his parents Art and Amy and infant sisters Diane and Janet.
