Roger Mickelson, 85, of Ten Mile Lake, Dalton, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Roger Dayle Mickelson was born April 10, 1940, to parents Elvin and Ivonne (Haraldson) Mickelson in Pomme De Tierre, Minnesota. Roger graduated Ashby High School in 1957. After graduating, Roger went straight to work for Hodgeman construction and Co-Op Creamery of Elbow Lake. While working there, Roger married Betty Joyce Ostby on June 29, 1963.
Later on in life, Roger started farming with his brother Franklin. He also drove school bus for 36 years for Palmer Bus Co. Roger loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed his convertible and taking the kids fishing on the lake. Roger enjoyed going to church and being around his church family. He attended United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake for 61 years.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Ivonne Mickelson; grandparents: Ole and Ida Haraldson and Norman and Martha Mickelson; his brother Keith Mickelson, sister Sandra Mickelson, his daughter Lachel Bergerud, and great-grandson Conner Buehring.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Mickelson; his daughter Lori Olson; five grandchildren: Ashley Buehring, Shane Olson, Sierra Holloway, Wade Bergerud, Jackie Bergerud; eight great-grandchildren: Hannah Olson, Holly Olson, Charlie Buehring, Colby Buehring, Cora Buehring, Rylee Norwood, Soray’ah Johnson, Raphael Johnson; brother, Franklin (Ethel) Mickelson; sister-in-law Debra Mickelson.
Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 24, 2025, at United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Interment: Ness Cemetery, Elbow Lake, MN
Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.
