Roland Mau, 71, of Backus, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Roland Dale Mau was born on June 21, 1943, in Morris, Minnesota the son of Willmar Julious and Jelma Margaret (Henrichs) Mau. He was baptized and confirmed in the Kongsvinger Lutheran Church by Donnelly, Minnesota. Roland attended Country School through the fifth grade, then the Donelly Public School for sixth grade and the Morris Public School from seventh through the ninth grade.
Roland and Beverly Jean Laddusaw were married on November 14, 1964 in Wheaton, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Crookston for five years, then in Wheaton from 1969 to 1994, and later moved to Backus. He was a carpenter in construction, building homes with his specialty being the finishing work. Roland was an avid fisherman and hunter with game hanging on his wall. He enjoyed bird watching, especially Hummingbirds, he loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors, but especially enjoyed his family and grandkids.
He is survived by four children, Scott Mau of Backus, Kevin (Angie Hernandez) Mau of Starbuck, Belinda (Chris) Berends of Echo and Russ (Michelle) Mau of Fergus Falls; thirteen grandchildren, Dakotah, Joseph, Mashayla, Tiffany, Cody, Amanda, Andrea, Aaron, Alicia, Andrew, Preston, Jordan and Anthony; one sister, Joyce (Rusty) Trisko of New Hope; and by numerous relatives and friends.
Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly on April 26, 2012; parents, Willmar and Margaret Mau; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mark and his wife Edna, Darrel and his wife Susie and by two infant brothers, Russell and Wallace Mau.
Memorial Service: 4:00 P.M., Saturday June 13, 2015 at Pioneer Care Celebration Center in Fergus Falls.
