Rosalie Wilma Duerre (nee Bixby), 94, of Bloomington MN entered heaven on August 5, 2014.
Rosalie was born on July 29, 1920 in Basswood, MN to Jacob and Emma (Bjornstad) Bixby. Rosalie spent happy years growing up on the family farm in Basswood surrounded in her family's strong Christian heritage. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School and earned her degree from Northwestern College where she met her future husband, Evan Duerre. They married in October 1944 at First Baptist Church in Minneapolis. While awaiting Evan's return from World War II she worked at the Minneapolis Iron Store. Following the war they resided in the Twin Cities until 1957 when they moved to Fergus Falls, MN and then to Sioux Falls, SD in 1964. While raising their five children Rosalie spent time working in secretarial positions at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. After retiring in 1990, she and Evan moved to Battle Lake, MN and spent time enjoying their summer home on Dead Lake. Evan passed away in 1998 and Rosalie moved to the Twin Cities in 2005 to be closer to her family.
Those who encountered Rosalie never knew a kinder, sweeter, gentler soul. She was completely devoted to her family and provided a model example of Christian living. She always put others first and found a way to be content and grateful in any situation. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Rosalie is survived by her five children, Deanna (James) Moore of Bloomington, Steven (Mary) Duerre of St Paul, Lynn (Ronald) Durner of Hastings, MN, James (Joann) Duerre of Eagan and Sandra Duerre of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; one brother, Norman Bixby of Apple Valley, MN; one sister, Idell Jacobs of Milaca, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan, her parents, and two brothers, Glen Bixby and Charles Bixby.
