Rudolph Neuberger, 78, of Erhard, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011, in PioneerCare, Fergus Falls.
Rudolph Michael Neuberber was born August 7, 1933, in Long Prairie, MN, to John and Francis (Weber) Neuberger. He was brought up in the Catholic Faith and graduated from Long Prairie High School. In Rudy's younger years, he was a golden glove boxer, played football, enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing.
In March of 1952, Rudy enlisted in the Marine Core, served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in March of 1955. In 1956, Rudy married Maryleene Ringstrom, and to this union, four daughters were born. For a short time, Rudy went back to school to become a teacher, but ended up pursuing a career as a carpenter.
In April of 1982, Rudy met Peggy Westrup while working in Helena, Montana, and was married to Peggy on his birthday, August 7, 1982.
Rudy had many interests in life, some of which included hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, and cooking. Rudy was truly a jack-of-all-trades, eventually earning his plumbers and electrical certifications. He was also a licensed realtor. Rudy was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Peggy, Erhard, MN; four daughters, Trudy (Gary) Sundby, Underwoord; Laure Marquardt, Nisswa, MN; Brenda (Jim) Wine-Gar, Helena, MT; Tamie (Michael) Piekarski, Fergus Falls; two step-children, David Meier, Kansas City, MO; Cynthia Meier, Helena, MT; 10 grandchildren, Debbie (Ricky) Smith, Ernie Freye, Gary (Becca) Sundby, Adam Sundby, Tiffany (Bandia) Solano, McKane Marquardt, Colton Marquardt, Melissa Wine-Gar, Jamie Thompson, and Levi Long; 7 great-grandchildren, Zackary Anderson, Dylan and Taylar Wine-Gar, Brady Sundby, Kendall Sundby, Eli Solano, and Riley Smith; 2 brothers, Joe (Donna), Harris, MN; Bob (Sharon), Yuma, AZ; 3 sisters, Isey Ostendorf, Sauk Centre, MN; Ann Ellering, St. Paul, MN; and Josie (Tom) Perry, Apache Junction, AZ.
In addition to his parents, Rudy is preceded in death by brothers, John and Carl; three sisters, Helen Schweigert, Bertha Grunke, and Mary Clendenin.
Funeral Service: 1 PM Monday, August 22, 2011, in Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
Visitation: one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Interment: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota
