Fergus Falls

Scott James Dewey, a beloved member the Fergus Falls community, passed away on October 25, 2024 at the age of 63. Born on May 13, 1961, in Fergus Falls to Jim and Shirley Dewey. Scott lived life that touched many through his warm personality and unwavering spirit.

Scott was well-known for his dedication to his work and community. He began his career managing the Holiday gas station before driving a truck Coca-Cola. For two decades, he served as a machine operator at Amcon, where he built lasting relationships with colleagues and friends. In December 2023, Scott retired, leaving behind a proud legacy of hard work and commitment.

A graduate of Fergus Falls High School in 1979, Scott was an active member of his school community, participating in the wrestling team during his time there. His adventurous and fun-loving nature allowed him to cultivate various interests outside of school, he was a boy scout, liked to hunt and fish.

Scott married Brenda Synstelien on May 12, 1984. Together they had two children: Tina and Jared. After 10 years together Scott and Brenda divorced. Scott went on to marry Holly Schmidt in 2003. The couple divorced after some years together, but they remained friends until his death. Scott then found love again with Susan Martinson, who he was with for over 15 years before his passing.

As Scott got older, he and Susan enjoyed working on puzzles together. Scott loved reading western novels; he tried to get everyone else to read them too. He often enjoyed playing Bingo at the Eagles and VFW, where he was known for his jovial spirit. While Scott might have slowed down with some outdoor activities, he still enjoyed going out in the sun and tending to his beautiful garden.

Scott is survived by his partner, Susan Martinson; his daughter, Tina Davis (Ben Formo); his son, Jared Dewey; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Lilyanna, Laiden, Evangelina Davis, Jayda, Aailah, and Haiden Dewey. He is also survived by his father, Jim (Rose) Dewey; his brother, Kirk (Lisa) Dewey; and his sister, Jenel (Mike) Lundquist.
