Sharon Sullivan

October 22, 1935 — March 23, 2025

Sharon Geneva (Mosman) Sullivan, 89, of Underwood died Sunday March 23, 2025 at Benedictine Living Community in Ada, Minnesota. She was born the fifth of sixth children, in the home of her parents, Willard (Bill) and Stella (Larson) Mosman, at Staples, Minnesota, on October 22, 1935. She was baptized by Pastor Berge of Sverdrup Lutheran Church and was later confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Tacoma, Washington.

Sharon attended Lincoln Elementary School in Staples through the fifth grade and then moved with her parents to Tacoma, Washington. There, she attended Horace Mann Elementary, Gray Junior High, and Lincoln Senior High School through her junior year.

On August 16, 1952 Sharon married Jourdan T. Sullivan Jr. at Hope Lutheran Church in Tacoma. Their first home together was in Kingsville, Texas where he was stationed in the Navy. Orders then transferred them to Moffett Field Naval Air Station near Mountain View, California, where Jourdan was deployed to Korea. Sharon gave birth to their first child, Lonnie, 1954, at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma during that time.

Her husband’s Naval career took Sharon and her family for multiple tours of duty in San Diego and Alameda, California; to the China Lake Naval Ordnance Test Station in the Mojave Desert, where their second son, Patrick, was born. After China Lake the family went to Florida then to Rhode Island, and then moved to the southern coast of England for a two year exchange of duty with the Royal Navy. The family finally returned to Texas again where her husband retired after twenty-six years active military service. Following retirement, they moved to Underwood, having previously purchased the farm property that Sharon’s great-grandfather originally homesteaded after he had immigrated from Norway. She resided there until her death. She always thoroughly enjoyed the animal wildlife, the quiet rural setting, and the lifestyle.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sister Jenile (Miles) Nygaard; three brothers: Glen (Clara) Mosman, Loren (Audrey) Mosman, and Ronald Mosman.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jourdan Sullivan; sons Lonnie and Patrick, their wives Julia and Melissa; four grandchildren : Devon, Jessica, Andrew, and Aaron Sullivan; brother Wallace (Julia) Mosman; 2 nieces and 8 nephews.
