Stanley Kenneth Karlgaard, 66, of Fergus Falls, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the V. A. facility in Fargo, ND.
He was born August 25, 1948 in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Elmer and Mildred (Skrove) Karlgaard. He attended Campbell Public School graduating in 1966 and then attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND graduating in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 – 1972 as an aviation electrician. After his honorable discharge from the navy, Stan worked at Balanca Aircraft in Alexandria, MN from 1972 – 1975. From 1975 – 1998, Stan farmed his family farm in Wilkin County. He also operated a snow removal business in Fergus Falls from 1980 – 1998. Stan worked for Delzer Construction from 1998 – 2006. On October 24, 1970, Stan was united in marriage to Diane Etten. They had four children: Tammy, Kristopher, Joshua and Jason. Stan enjoyed hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Stan is survived by his wife, Diane of Fergus Falls; his children: Tammy Karlgaard (fiancé Nathan Knox) of San Diego, CA, Kristopher (Hope) Karlgaard of Breckenridge, MN, Joshua (Jennifer) Karlgaard of New York, NY and Jason (Jennifer) Karlgaard of Wahpeton, ND; seven grandchildren: Karyn Karlgaard, Derrick Zietlow, Ethan, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Ashlyn and Matthew Karlgaard; his mother, Mildred Karlgaard of Fergus Falls; two brothers, Don (Cheryl) Karlgaard of East Gull Lake, MN and Glen (Gail) Karlgaard of Apple Valley, MN; three sisters, Ann (Doug) Etten of Dalton, MN, Shirley (Tom) Brause of Fergus Falls and Ruth Karlgaard of Fergus Falls; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and an aunt, Wyonne Forde of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Karlgaard.
