Stella M. Pikal, 91, of Buffalo, MN, formerly of Henning, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
Stella Mathilda Pikal was born on December 24, 1925, in Girard Township of Ottertail County, one of four children born to Engelbert and Orpha Marie (Verhell) Kirckof of German ancestry. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Stella attended rural country school in Girard Township. Stella worked in several homemaking positions.
On December 13, 1959, she married Edwin Francis Pikal at Grace Lutheran Church of Henning. The couple resided in rural Henning until 2011, when they moved to their present address in Buffalo. Edwin passed away in 2014.
She is a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church where she enjoyed the ladies groups and bible studies. Stella was also a member of the Henning Senior Citizens.
Her hobbies included embroidery, gardening and enjoying various kinds of music.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Edwin Pikal; a son, Douglas, a granddaughter, Sara Deckert; a son-in-law, Alan Horsch; two sisters, Evelyn Hyenk and Nola Kirckof; a brother, Melvin Kirckof.
Her family includes her daughter, Karen Horsch of Buffalo, MN; one granddaughter, Leah (Todd Frank) Deckert of Buffalo; three great grandchildren, Dexter, Elise and Dominik along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral Service: 1 P.M., Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
