Steve Bailey, 60 of Battle Lake died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at his home.
Stephen David Bailey was born on August 21, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the son of James and Bette (Ellsworth) Bailey. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Rugby, North Dakota. Steve attended the Rugby Public School through the eighth grade, graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1969, then furthered his education with two years at the Fergus Falls Community College. He served three years with the U.S. Army, serving two of those years in Germany.
Steve and Cindy Farden were married on August 2, 1975 in the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. After their marriage they lived by Battle Lake where Steve was employed with Battle Lake Electric, Skov Construction and then he operated Steve Bailey Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bowling. Steve liked water skiing, had been part of a local ski team and was an excellent bare foot skier. He had been a member of the Battle Lake Jaycees and also had been very active with the Battle Lake Lions Club where he had served for thirty-one years. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the lake and also enjoyed wild game feeds.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Matthew (Kristy) Bailey of Barnesville; mother, Bette Bailey of Battle Lake; two brothers, Bill Bailey of Battle Lake and Kurt (Linda) Bailey of Moorhead; nephews and nieces and by numerous relatives and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jim Bailey and by his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Dodie Farden.
Memorial Service: 2 pm Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake
Visitation: one hour prior to the service.
