Stephen "Steve” Harry Danielson was born on July 20th, 1948 in Dawson, Minnesota to Harry and Virginia (Ross) Danielson. They lived in Marietta, MN and Watertown, SD when he was young. At an early age, he picked up his Grandpa “CC” Ross’ love of horses and rode in many parades and horse shows. During the summer, the family took weekend trips with the horse trailer, much like people today travel with a camper.
The family moved to Campbell in 1961 at which time Steve met Linda Murray, and they soon became best friends. Steve graduated from Campbell High School in 1966. Steve excelled in sports and went on to play basketball at the University of Minnesota – Crookston. Steve and Linda married on July 31st, 1966. A daughter, Tammy, and son, Brad, made the family perfect. When Steve’s father died in 1970, Steve purchased Fieldcrest Fertilizer in Campbell, which he operated until 2003, changing the name of the business to Crest Fertilizer along the way. Through the years, many young men looking for summer employment came to Steve, and he was always happy to help them out.
In 2003, Steve and Linda moved to Fergus Falls, MN. He drove semi for Transystems of Moorhead for a couple of years and was currently driving for Minn-Dak Cooperative in Wahpeton.
During their years in Campbell, Steve served on the City Council, was a member of the Breckenridge Jaycees, Campbell Lions, Campbell Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell First Responders and Wahpeton Elks Club. He also served on the Minnesota Agri-growth Council and on the Minnesota Emergency Response Management Team. Steve was an active member of Faith Community Church for over 50 years serving in various positions. Steve and Linda continued to be active in the church for 14 years after moving to Fergus Falls. Steve and Linda were baptized and became members of CrossRoads Church in April of 2016.
Steve enjoyed his horses, traveling with friends, attending Minnesota Vikings and Twins events, and spending time at the lake. Most recently his passion was attending any and every event involving his grandsons. He was often referred to as a “Super Fan” for the Fergus Falls Otters, Wahpeton Huskies and UND Fighting Sioux. Steve was a family man all his life, and his love and pride for his wife, children, and grandchildren was apparent to all who knew him.
Steve passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 26th at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Virginia Danielson, his mother and father in-law, Ray and Hazel Murray, his stepfather Robert Thompson, and many brothers and sisters in law.
