Stephen Quam, 54 of Mandan, North Dakota died Friday, October 21, 2011 in Bismark, North Dakota.
Stephen Lee Quam was born on October 8, 1957 in Morris, Minnesota the son of Clarence and Ione (Wevley) Quam. He was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio and confirmed in the Pelican Lake Lutheran Church of Ashby. Steve graduated from the Ashby High School in 1975. He then attended West Point Military Academy for a short time, the Fergus Falls Community College, University of Minnesota in Morris and St. Cloud State College.
Steve was married from 1981 to 1984 to Theone Esther Chartier-Bartels, they had one daughter, Jacqueline. They were divorced. He was married to Wanda Miller for a short time, they divorced. Steve has a life partner, Barbara Liddle, they have been together twelve years and have two daughters, Alexandra and Jillian and they as a family live in Mandan, North Dakota. Steve had worked various jobs, but for the last several years he was a welder for Melroe Bobcat in Gwinner, North Dakota. He was an avid sports fan, who loved golf, softball and baseball. He played baseball on the Ashby High School Team, with the Ashby Town Team and was on a Barrett Softball League.
He is survived by his mother, Ione Quam of Ashby; life partner, Barbara Liddle; three daughters, Jacqueline Quam of Oregon City, Oregon, Alexandra and Jillian Quam both at home; four step-daughters, Tara Liddle of Mandan, Melissa (Craig) Kincaid of Eagle Creek, Oregon, Jessica Martin of Oregon City and Danielle Liddle of Mandan; two sisters, Debra (Leroy) Buse of Brandon and Linda (Dave) Schwardt of Ashby; two brothers, Jerald (Ardyce) Quam and Rodney (Becky) Quam all of Mandan; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Clarence Quam; and nephew, Shane Buse.
Memorial Service: 2:30 pm Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby
Visitation: one hour prior to the service.
