Age 65 of Fergus Falls, MN passed away January 12, 2017 at the Haskin House under the care of Red River Hospice. Born in Sparta, Wisc. the daughter of Edmund and Phyllis (Hentges) Lanners. She spent her early childhood on a farm in Fairmont, MN. In 1962, her family moved to Hopkins MN. She graduated from Hopkins-Eisenhower in 1969. She continued her education at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Paul where she completed her RN and LPN degrees in nursing. She worked for a few years in Mpls/St. Paul hospitals before returning to the Mpls School of Anesthesia in 1978 where she obtained a MS degree in 1980, as a Nurse Anesthetist in 1980.
On September 9, 1978 she married Craig Rude at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Elizabeth, MN. They lived in Mpls for two years where Sue was attending Anesthesia School. After she graduated they moved to Pelican Rapids, MN and she worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN, and Craig started a dental practice in Pelican Rapids, MN in 1980.
In 1982, Sue and Craig moved to Fergus Falls, MN where Craig purchased a dental practice and Sue decided to stay with their two children, Sam and John. In 1992, son Joe was born and in 1995, Sue and Craig adopted a baby from China, Eva.
The center of her life were her children, her mother and father, her brothers and sisters and her friends. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, her dogs, cooking and spending time at their cabin.
Sue is survived by her husband, Craig of Fergus Falls, MN; son, Sam of Moorhead, MN; son, John (Emily and granddaughter, Charlie) of Brooklyn Center, MN; son, Joe of Fargo, ND; daughter, Eva of Moorhead, MN; siblings, David (Donna) of Dallas, TX; Steve (Karen) of Palmer, AK; Tom (Denise) of Chickaloon, AK; Bruce (Ellie) of Eden Prairie, MN; Mark (Mary) of Eden Prairie, MN; Ann Fritz of Mpls, MN; Margaret (Kevin) of Hopkins, MN; Brian (Sheila) of Kensington, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Phyllis, and father Edmund.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2017.
