Suzanne Marie Edwards

Suzanne Marie Edwards, 90, of Battle Lake, Minnesota, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, at Good Samaritan Home in Battle Lake. Her memorial service is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham, Minnesota.  There will be a visitation one hour prior.  Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling.

 Suzanne Marie Edwards was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on March 21, 1934, to Gustav and Mabel (Nystuen) Arneson. She grew up in Madison, South Dakota, and graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran School in Fargo, North Dakota.

One evening after coming home from the roller rink, she met the love of her life, Norman Edwards. The two were married on February 20, 1954, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota. The couple lived in various locations over the years, making lifelong friends along the way. They were blessed with 7 children- Alan, Mark, Sheila, Sonja, Paul, Eric, and Heidi. Suzanne and Norman purchased a summer cabin on Little McDonald Lake where many memories were made with their children. They would eventually become snowbirds and go to Arizona for the colder months. 

Suzanne was a woman strong in her faith and enjoyed being a housewife and mother. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and she and Norman were able to take a trip to Norway. Suzanne liked to stay active within her church where she played piano, organ, and sang in the choir. Music was very important to her. She sang in many different choirs over the years.

There are many ways you could describe Suzanne with kind and humble being at the top. She was always supportive of her family and helped everyone with a servant’s heart. Suzanne loved her family dearly and lived her life for them, no matter how far away they were. 

Suzanne is survived by her husband of 70 years, Norman; children, Alan (Linda) Edwards, Mark (Diane) Edwards, Paul (LeAnn) Edwards, Eric (Teresa) Edwards, Sonja Devine, and Heidi (Wes) Hull; sister-in-law, Estelle Arneson; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Mabel; daughter, Sheila Edwards; grandson, Christopher; brother Norel Arneson; and a sister, Audrey Riley.
