Tassie Satterlie McLean

Tassie Satterlie McLean,87, of Evansville, MN, passed away on July 17, 2020 at the Evansville Care Campus under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice.

On March 3, 1933, Claryce Adell was born in Dassel, MN, the second daughter of Albert and Marian (Dahlgren) Anderson. She couldn’t say Claryce so she called herself Tassie, which she was known as for the remainder of her life.  She attended and graduated from Evansville Public School. She married Sid Satterlie Jr in 1953, in Evansville.

During Tassie's married life she would have been classified as a stay-at-home wife and mother, but she considered herself a Farmer. She spent many hours in the field helping her partner, Sid. They farmed together for 38 years. Tassie and Sid enjoyed going south for the winter and she continued to do so until 2009. Following the death of her husband, Tassie sold the farm and moved to Alexandria in 1994.

As a mother, Tassie was always willing to help, encourage, inspire, and support her own children. She made sure there was a new home-made dress for each holiday and school program. Tassie loved to sew clothing and made many items for herself, Sid, the girls and the grandchildren. At different times in her life, she was a Sunday school teacher and 4H Leader. Her five grandchildren loved visiting Grandma and Popup's house. Would there be a ride in the tractor or truck? Would there be time to shoot gophers or sparrows or play restaurant? Grandma made the best cookies! Time spent with family was always joyous and fun filled. When the great-grandchildren came along, she loved to take them for ice cream and to Noonan's park to feed the ducks. You could sleep over at Grandma Tassie's anytime, whether you were a few weeks old or all grown up.

Tassie moved to Nelson Gables in May 2009 and really started to enjoy her retirement. She was active as a Senior and Hospice volunteer, friend, shopper and Wii bowling partner. She enjoyed baking cookies and jigsaw puzzles. Tassie and Malcolm McLean were married August 27, 2011 in Alexandria and resided at Grand Arbor. The couple enjoyed baking and just being together.  After Mac’s passing, she moved to Evansville Care Campus where she felt at home.

Tassie was preceded in death by her husbands, Sid Jr in 1991 and Mac in 2018, her sister, Eileen Nelson Carlquist in 2008, her parents, Albert and Marion Anderson and her in-laws, Sid Sr and Corinne Satterlie.

Tassie is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Jeff) Satterlie-Foshaug of Hoffman, Karen (David) Holte of Wendell; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian Luetgers) Englund, Jamie (Heidi) Englund, Casey (Kim) Englund, Kyle (Amy) Weets and Kerby (Jessica) Weets; 14 great-grandchildren Torrie (Katie), Cassandra, Michaela, Braydon, Caleb, Conway and Willow Englund, William and Blaire Piere, Tucker and Spencer Weets, Harper Luetgers, Savannah and Cheyenne Stengle and 1 great-great granddaughter on the way; sister, Yvonne (Trueman) Holte and brother, Alverne-Buddy (Ruth) Anderson numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2020, at Calvary Covenant Church, Evansville, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
