Terrence Nelson

Terrence "Terry" Nelson, 61, of rural Battle Lake died Friday, November 13, 2015, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Terrence Lee Nelson was born on April 14, 1954, the son of Merwin and Betty (Gabriel) Nelson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashby. Terry graduated from the Ashby High School in 1972, and completed his education with a business degree at the University of Minnesota in Crookston.

Terry and Susan Van Santen were married on June 12, 1976, at the Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church of rural Clitherall. After their marriage, they moved to their present home by Eagle Lake. He worked construction prior to starting Johnson-Nelson Masonry with Allen Johnson in Ashby. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping and travelling. Terry enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and their many trips to the hunting cabin by Park Rapids.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; three children, Jessica (Derek Berg) Nelson of Plymouth, Tonya Nelson of Eagan and Jacob Nelson of Battle Lake; brother, Tom (Beth) Nelson of Battle Lake; sister-in-law, Renee (Daryl) Jorud of Battle Lake; three brothers-in-law, Mike (Patty) Van Santen of Battle Lake, Duane (Leanne) Van Santen of Naples, Fl. and Mark (Geri) Van Santen of Battle Lake; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Merwin and Betty Nelson; father and mother-in-law, Peter and Ruby Van Santen; brother and two sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Shannon Van Santen and Diane Van Santen; and by nephew, Peter Van Santen.

Visitation: 4 – 7 PM Monday, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby, and one hour prior at the church.

Funeral Service: 11 AM Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake.
