Terryl Jacobson

Terryl "Jake" Jacobson, also known as "Dick", 63, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Underwood, died Wednesday in Bemidji, MN.
Terry was born on June 21, 1949 in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Sherrill and Arlyss (Donley) Jacobson. He grew up in the Underwood area, graduating from Underwood High School in 1967. After high school, Terry went to Fergus Falls Community College for a short time and went on to receive an Associate's Degree in law enforcement from Bemidji State University. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving two years as an MP, before being honorably discharged.
Following his military service, Terry went to work as a detective for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, eventually being promoted to supervisor. While working as a detective, Terry met Lorna Kimball, a court reporter, and they were married on June 22, 1974 in Ottawa, Kansas. Terry and Lorna were blessed with three children: Terry, Tim and Tammy.
In 1996, Terry was re-married to Sheri Johnson in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sheri passed away in 1998.
After working at the BCA, Terry owned and operated a truck unloading business, owned and operated the Athletic Club Sports Bar in Bemidji and sold cars, until retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, karaoke, playing hearts, snowmobiling and fishing. Terry absolutely loved the water, and could often be found cruising around the lake, or in his earlier days, waterskiing.
He is survived by his three children: Terry (Shala) of Prior Lake, MN, Tim (Sarah) of Chicago, Illinois, and Tammy (John) Christenson of North Branch, MN; his parents, Sherill "Jake" and Arlyss of Underwood; five siblings: Deb (Steve) Hoen of Sauk Rapids, MN, Steve (Carol) of Albany, MN, Randy (Cindy) of Underwood, MN, Rick (Marie) of Underwood, MN and Greg (Deya) of Elbow Lake, MN; three grandchildren: Hailey, Hannah and Brady; and many nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Sheri.
Memorial Service: 1 PM Monday, May 20, 2013, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services.
