Thomas Baker, 71 of Henning died Monday, January 18, 2016, at Willow Creek Assisted Living in Henning.

Thomas Windsor Baker was born on September 20, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Thomas R. and Jeanette (Salchert) Baker. He lived in Minneapolis, Aberdeen, S.D. and then returned to Minneapolis where he graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1962. He furthered his education receiving a degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Thomas married Patricia Ann Lane on December 30, 1965, at the Church of the Ascension in Minneapolis. After their marriage they lived in Brooklyn Center then North Minneapolis, where Tom worked part time as President and Commissioner of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. He was employed with the State of Minnesota at the Department of Commerce where he was Director for Property, Casualty and Self Insurance Division. Tom retired in 2005, when Tom and Patti moved to their lake home on Blanche Lake. In retirement, he continued to work for the state part time from home. He was active with the DFL. He enjoyed his lake home and fishing, was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and growing up he liked cars. Tom attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and while living in Henning, he attended St. Edwards Catholic Church.

Tom is survived by one son, Bruce Paul Baker of Minneapolis and by numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia on December 4, 2013, and by his parents, Thomas R. and Jeanette Baker.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 am Friday, January 22, 2016, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake

Visitation: one hour prior to the Mass

Clergy: Fr. LeRoy Schik

Interment: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Cemetery, Battle Lake
