Truman Balgaard, 78, of Evansville, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Salmon's Place, Alexandria, Minnesota
Truman, the son of Melvin and Gladys (Bergan) Balgaard, was born on July 27, 1937, in Lund Township, Evansville, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Evansville. He served as an usher at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville.
Truman attended country school District 35 and graduated from Evansville High School in 1958.
Truman worked as a dairyman at several places. He worked for Edgar Deal in Doran, MN for 25 years, for Joe Gradin in Ashby for 5 years, and for several farmers in the Evansville area.
He loved animals, especially his cat "Blackie". Salmon's cat, "Callie" would wait by his door in the mornings at his last home.
Truman also loved little children and they loved him. The 3 year old red-head, Bryin Jayne, was very special to him.
He loved working jig-saw puzzles. His table always has one he was working on, as well as a box for the cat to sit in.
Truman was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elvina Schroeder; two brothers, Roger and Dennis; 2 sisters-in-law, Helene and Juanita; and nephew, Leslie Schroeder.
He is survived by sister, Beverly (Robert) Bonkoski, Lakeville; brothers, Marvin (Audrey), Howard Lake; Luverne (Cynthia), Burnsville; Ronald, Alexandria; sister-in-law, Joanne Balgaard, Olivia, brother-in-law, William Schroeder, Fergus Falls; 9 nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 11 AM, Monday, August 24, at Faith Lutheran Church, Evansville, MN
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
