Vera McGregor

Vera Helen McGregor was born on February 23, 1919 in Polk County , Wisconsin , the daughter of Wilmar and Rose (Lauritsan) Sarver. Vera was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church and attended the Milltown Public Schools and graduated from the Milltown High School in 1937. Vera was baptized at the Methodist Episcopal Church in New Richmond, Wisconsin on September 26, 1941.





Vera married Lawrence W. McGregor on January 21, 1940. They lived in New Richmond, WI where they owned McGregor’s Restaurant until 1965 when they moved to Anoka , MN . In Anoka , they owned and operated McGregor’s Truck Stop for twenty-four years. After that time Vera began working for North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale where she worked in the Surgical Instrument Department for five years until her retirement in 1994. Vera was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka and in 1995 she moved to Henning , Minnesota transferring her membership to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was active with the Prayer Shawl and Quilting Group and was also a member of the Henning Garden Club. Vera very much enjoyed working with the Garden Club and was very active in keeping the parks in good shape.





Vera McGregor, 91 passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Henning. She is survived by her four sons, James L. (Nila) McGregor of New Richmond, WI, Jon S. (Shelly) McGregor of Star Prairie, WI, Jerome R. (Barb) McGregor of Henning, MN, and Jeffrey W. (Donna) McGregor of Anoka, MN; ten Grandchildren, two Step Grandchildren and seventeen Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Eve Palm of Albert Lea, MN, and Norma Helstern of Cumberland, WI; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in September of 1969, her parents Wilmar and Rose Sarver, two sisters and two brothers.
