Vernon Farden

Vernon Farden, 79 of rural Battle Lake died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home.

Vernon Milo Farden was born on April 3, 1933 by Evansville, Minnesota the son of Selmer and Julia (Person) Farden. He was baptized and confirmed in the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church. Vern attended Rural School District #34 then graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1951. He served with the U.S. Army from May 1956 to March of 1958, serving in Germany with the 85th Field Artillery as a Track Operator. After his discharge he worked road construction as a truck driver for the Herbison Construction Co. of Brainerd for two years. He then started farming in Eagle Lake Township on the home farm where he farmed until 1988 when he rented the land out and began employment with Minn-Dak Cooperative of Wahpeton until his retirement. Vern was a lifetime member of the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, enjoying their services and coffee fellowship. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling and also coffee and conversation at the Shoreline with his friends.

He is survived by one sister, Joan (Ruben) Cleven of San Carlos, California; one brother, Roger (Mary) Farden of Auburn, Washington; and by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Julia Farden.

Memorial Service: 1:00 pm, Saturday December 15, 2012 at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake.

Visitation: one hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Reverend John Martinson

Interment: Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery
