Vernon Kjono, age 82, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Minnesota Veteran’s Home, Fergus Falls, MN.
Vernon LeRoy Kjono was born on July 29, 1928 at home in Rothsay, the son of Adolph and Clara (Lerbakken) Kjono. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Rothsay and attended Rothsay School. Vernon worked with his father as a carpenter until he was inducted into the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War until his discharge in 1952.
Vernon
married Loretta Norgren on August 17, 1957 in Vergas, MN. The couple lived in Fergus Falls where Vernon worked for Anderson Brothers until his retirement in 1989.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and his Terriers. Vernon was a lifetime member of the Fergus Falls VFW. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Vernon
is survived by his wife, Loretta; sister, Ruth Kjono Swenson and her husband, Ken, Moorhead; 4 sister-in-laws; 1 brother-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Clarice Kjono Fosse, brother, Alvin Kjono and 2 nephews.
