Victor Manuel Facio, 59, of Fergus Falls, died unexpectedly July 2, 2016, at his home.
The son of Bernabe Facio and Maria Juanita Facio, Victor was born on July 28, 1956, in Allende, Coahuila Mexico. He graduated from Crystal City (Texas) High School in 1974, and furthered his education spending one year at Texas A&M University Kingsville. After moving to Moorhead in 1976, he studied at Moorhead Technical College while working in the emergency room at St. Ansgar Hospital. There, Victor realized his dream of working in a medical setting while fine-tuning his passion to help others. In 1977, he married Cheryl DeGroat (now Cheryl Brammer), divorcing in 1983. On Nov. 7, 1987, he married Tami Sims, whose life was cut tragically short by an automobile accident in 2003.
Victor attended the FM Ambulance and Paramedic School in 1983, earned his certification as a paramedic, and then worked on the first ambulance team in the Fargo-Moorhead area. With the closing of St. Ansgar Hospital, Victor decided to become a massage therapist, receiving his certification from Northern Lights Massage School in 1992. Later, Victor was instrumental in opening the first school for massage in the state of North Dakota, the Sister Rosalind Gefre School of Massage Therapy, in Fargo. Victor never stopped learning and obtained over 30 certifications in various healing techniques. He remained in the profession, operating his own business, Massage by Victor, until his death.
Victor enjoyed playing music with friends, rock hunting, photography and spending time with family. He was passionate about his calling as a healer and teacher and brought his qualities of kindness, compassion, and intuition to all those who entered his life. He had an uncanny ability to touch people's lives deeply in extraordinarily important ways, naturally, without effort.
Victor is survived by his life partner, Geri Johnson of Fergus Falls, and by five children and seven grandchildren: Victoria (Jeremy) Woodard of Moorhead, and their children, Isaiah and Franklin; Kristen (Bud) Francis and their daughter, Kylie, of Moorhead; Shawn (Dalace) Jacob of West Fargo and their children, Shawna, Kaylie, Presley, and Aubrey; Sam Facio of Fergus Falls; and Dominic (Jennifer) Facio of Moorhead. He is also survived by two sisters, Lucy (Jerry) Guerrero of St. Joseph, and Norma Hanson of Gilbert, Arizona; and by numerous other relatives and friends. Victor was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Tami.
A celebration of Victor's life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, 301 E. Washington Ave., in Fergus Falls, with sharing of memories at 3:30.
Interment will be at the Pelican Lake Cemetery in Ashby.
