Virginia Mouritsen

August 11, 1911 — July 22, 2010

Virginia Mouritsen, 98, of Fergus Falls died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Hospice House in Fergus Falls . Born August 11, 1911, in Appleton , MN . She attended Macalester College in St. Paul where she met the love of her life Dr. Glenn Mouritsen. They were married in 1935 and moved to Fergus Falls , MN , where Glenn practiced medicine until his retirement in 1976. Virginia was very active in volunteer work with the hospital, Pioneer Home, Summer Theatre, the Concert Association, and the Ottertail County Historical Society. While living in Fergus, she sang in the choir at First Lutheran Church , and enjoyed her many years directing the motion choir. Virginia was a 50-year member of P.E.O.





After Dr. Mouritsen’s retirement, they moved to Naples , FL , where they wintered for 26 years, returning to Ottertail Lake during the summers. While in Florida , Virginia continued singing in a church choir and modeled for many fashion shows until she was 85. In 2000, she and Dr. Mouritsen moved back to Minnesota and lived in New Hope , MN , near their son Jack and family. In 2008 she moved to Fergus and lived at Mill Street Residence.





She is survived by her son Jack (Judy) of Fergus Falls, daughter Julie Wessling of Leesburg, FL, four grandchildren Susan (Joel) Murphy, Stephen (Branda) Mouritsen, Christopher (Pamela) Wessling and Heather (Timothy) Roberts; and seven great-grandchildren, Callen Mouritsen, Dalton Mouritsen, Nycole Mouritsen, Kendal Mouritsen, Asher Wessling, Lucas Roberts and Naomi Wessling.





Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Glenn and her parents.





Memorial service: Monday, July 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church , Fergus Falls





Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
