Vivian Fay Uhren, 61, of Vining, MN, died Friday, October 3, 2014, at Fairview University of Minnesota Hospital, with husband Ken at her side.
Viv was born on June 12th, 1953, in Redfield South Dakota, to Ralph and Nina Sorensen.
In 1973, Viv graduated from Golden Valley Lutheran College and then worked as a Parish and Youth worker at Hope Lutheran Church in New Hope, Minnesota.
On July 26th, 1975, Viv was married to Ken Uhren and they have resided for most of their married life in rural Vining, Minnesota.
Viv worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper in Fergus Falls from 1978 to 1988 and then became a stay at home mom for the next 18 years. For 13 of those years she worked as a volunteer at Health Resources in Fergus Falls. In 2006, Viv became a part time Postal Worker and then for 3 years became full time at the Clitherall Post Office and worked up until she was diagnosed with leukemia in November 2013.
Viv is remembered for her love for her Savior, her love of people, her love of music and her singing, her selfless giving, her sense of humor, her many many friends, and especially her love for her family.
She is preceded in death by her father Ralph, mother Nina, brother, Paul, niece Joelle, father in law Howard, and friend Christina.
Viv is survived by her husband Ken; her children, Rebecca (Tyler) Johnson, Benjamin Uhren, Hannah (Jamie) Boehmer, Michael Uhren; her grandchildren, Ashton, Caitlyn, and Rylan; her mother in law, Rubye; her brother, Chuck; sister in law, Bonnie, sister in law, Barb; sister, Laura and brother in law Mike; brother, Neil and sister in law Kari; sister, Jill and brother in law Ken; sisters in law Sylvia, Cynthia, Carolyn, and Mary; brother in law David, many nieces and nephews, and many many friends.
Visitation: Friday, October 10th from 11-3, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resuming at the Vining Lutheran Church at 5 with a Prayer Service at 7 P.M.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m., Saturday, October 11, at the Vining Lutheran church in Vining with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Interment: Vining Lutheran Cemetery, Vining, MN
