Waiva Murray, 73 of rural Battle Lake died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Prairie Ridge Hospital in Elbow Lake.
Waiva Jeanette Murray was born on March 14, 1942, the daughter of Raymond and Minnie (Hornstine) Neubauer. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Gaul's Catholic Church in Tintah and attended the Campbell Public School.
Waiva and Tom Murray were married on September 23, 1959. After their marriage they lived in various locations. In July of 1976, they moved to their farm in Eagle Lake Township, rural Battle Lake. They were later divorced. She had worked as an over-the-road trucker, waitressed in the Stratford Hotel in Breckenridge and the Kelly's Restaurant in Wapheton. Waiva wouldn't give up, she owned her own dairy cattle along with goats, chickens, pigs horses and raised boxer dogs. She was a tomboy, loved animals, enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, planting trees in her yard, and the outdoors. She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Dawn (Monte) Samuelson of Underwood and Darcy (Russell) Sorenson of Ashby; six grandchildren, Jeannie Samuelson of Moorhead, Phillip (Rachel) Samuelson of Fergus Falls, Erika (Brandon) Goette of Hurley, SD, Ryan, Dallas and Erin Sorenson of Ashby; one great-granddaughter, Jayden Christianson of Moorhead; mother, Minnie Neubauer of Wendell; one sister, Tracey (Rick) Clemetson of Horace, ND; three brothers, Brian Neubauer of Breckenridge, Bruce (Alisha Johanson) Neubauer of Yuma, AZ; and Terry (Janet) Neubauer of Wendell; sister-in-law, Florence Neubauer of Campbell; and by numerous relatives and friends. Waiva was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Neubauer; by one brother, Curtis Neubauer and by ex-husband, Tom Murray. They say that at the rainbow bridge that pets must cross, they wait for their people. I know that there are tails that can't stop wagging 'cause Mom is coming home to wait with them
Memorial Service: 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
