Warren Miller, 89 of Henning died Monday, May 28, 2012 at the St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
Warren Richard Miller was born on May 16, 1923 in Graceville, Minnesota the son of Benjamin and Amelia (Scheldorf) Miller. He was baptized in the German Lutheran Church in Chokio and confirmed at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning. The family lived in Chokio where he attended the Chokio Elementary School; in 1932 they moved to Henning where Warren graduated from the Henning High School in 1942. In 1943 he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Force, serving overseas in the CBI (China, Burma, India) Theatre of Operations from 1942 to 1946 during WW II serving in India and Nepal. After his discharge from the Army he attended Moler Barber College in Fargo.
Warren and Gladyce Trosdahl were married on November 27, 1949 at the Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Clitherall, Minnesota. They lived in their home by Henning where he started his barbering career in January of 1948, working for his Dad at Miller's Barbershop in Henning. Warren purchased the business in 1967, barbering until his retirement in 1996 when he continued to work part-time. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the VFW both of Henning. Warren enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, cutting firewood, gardening, bird watching and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Gladyce; three children, Jeffrey (Virginia) Miller of Cross Lake, Roxann (Gary) Loser of Henning and Patricia (John) Chapman of Geneseo, Illinois; nine grandchildren and families, Trisha (Chad) Sargent and Ronald of New Brighton, Rebecca Lohser of Minneapolis, Joel (Kimberly) Miller, Beckett and Nash of Savage, Jerrald Miller of Shakopee, Adam Miller of Minneapolis, Leslie (Iain) Olness, Jordan and Taylor of Peoria, Az., Amy (Todd) Krall, Lauren and Emily of Rogers, Amber Westad of Davenport, Iowa, Caleb Westad of Geneseo, Ill. and Elizabeth Chapman of Omaha, NE; one sister, Iris (Don) Rotz of Parkers Prairie; one step-sister, Marlys (Tony) Hoselle of Phoenix, Az. and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Amelia Miller, step-mother, Hilda Miller, two sisters, Leona Jensen and Noreen Thompson.
