It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Lawrence Anderson who lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, January 24, 2025. Bill’s memorial service will be 2p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby. There will be a visitation one hour prior.
Bill was born June 5, 1972, in Alexandria, MN, to William and Lynn (Anderson) Anderson. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN, and later confirmed at Pelican Lake Lutheran Church in Ashby, MN. As a young child he enjoyed spending many hours with his “Grandpa on the Farm” south of Erdahl, MN.
After his junior year in high school, he spent a month in the Soviet Union and would speak fondly of that experience for many years to come. Along with many friends, he graduated from Ashby High School in 1990. He then went on to NDSU in Bottineau, ND and graduated in 1992. After college, he joined the AmeriCorps and worked in Denver, CO and later in Grand Marias, MN. He also worked for Grant County, Wiesel Well Drilling, Gateway Building Systems, and Walmart. He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2020.
In 2000, he married Angela Jacobson to which twin boys were born, Brandon Joseph and Bradley Lawrence. They were his greatest joy. His quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who had the honor to know him.
He is survived by his sons Brandon Anderson, Fergus Falls, MN, Bradley (Ashley Bowden) Anderson, Fargo, ND; parents, Gene and Lynn Jensen, Ashby, MN; sister, Jennifer (Cliff) Barber, Nevada, IA, and family- Aubrie (Trevor) Jackson, Avrie and Leon, Roland, IA, Natalie Barber and Garrett Barber, Nevada, IA; sister, Deanna Aamot, Ashby, MN and daughters Kalista Aamot, Fargo, ND, and Kyra Aamot, Glenwood, MN. Grandmother Florence Anderson, Evansville, MN; many aunts, uncles, cousins; special friend, Mindy Yanish; and lots of great friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Anderson; grandparents, Lawrence Anderson, Reuben and Grace Jensen, William and Mary Anderson; uncle, Layne Anderson; aunt and uncle, Jerry and Mary Jensen.
Bill’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Fergus Falls Cancer Center and to the Mayo Clinic for the wonderful care he received during this time.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
