William T. Liester, 78, of Battle Lake, died on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Grand Arbor in Alexandria, MN.
Bill was born on May 9, 1944, in Garretson, South Dakota, the son of James and Gertrude (DeClerk) Liester. He graduated from Garretson High School and attended General Beadle College in South Dakota, before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany and worked in tele-communications.
On June 8, 1968, he married Pamela Eitreim at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Garretson, SD. The couple moved to Granite Falls where Bill worked at United Telephone Company which later became Sprint until his retirement in 2001. Bill and Pam moved to their Eagle Lake home in 2000. Shortly after moving, Bill took a job with the Ashby School District as a janitor. Both Bill and Pam found great joy working with the staff and students there.
Bill loved fishing, golfing, attending local sports events with Pam, gardening and playing with his grandkids. He cherished time spent with his family and friends. God bless the memory of Bill Liester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude; wife, Pamela Liester in 2012; and a brother, James Liester Jr.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Susan (Chad) Kubat of Woodbury , MN and their children Lauren and Kyle, Stephanie Liester of Las Vegas, NV and her children William and Christopher; one son, Tom (Naomi) Liester of Stillwater, MN and their children, Owen, Max and Gus; sisters, Mary Ellen (Arden) Sorensen and Jean (Bob) Wick and brother, Mark (LaVonne) Liester along with numerous relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial: 12:30 P.M., Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment: Pelican Lake Cemetery, Ashby, MN
