William Bjerketvedt

William "Bill" Bjerketvedt, 90 of Battle Lake died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
William Ernest Bjerketvedt was born on October 14, 1925, the son of Theodore and Thale (Olson) Bjerketvedt. He was baptized and confirmed in the Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church and attended Rural School District #283 in Leaf Mountain Township.
Bill and Delores Jastram were married on August 26, 1961. He lived on the family homestead the majority of his life. Bill was a lifelong member of Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church where he had served as church elder and the cemetery care taker. He had been a dairy and beef farmer, worked for the Urbank Creamery, Dieseth Specialty Co. of Dalton and Moonies Construction Co. of Granite Falls. With Moonies he helped build I-94 from Evansville to Barnesville, while on this stretch of road he would say "You are driving on my road". Bill enjoyed puzzles, dancing and visiting with neighbors and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol Hagen of Springfield, SD and Linda Ottesen of Newfolden, MN; one grandson and three great-grandchildren, Joseph (Annemie) Ottesen, Kelsee, Ziva and Lucas of Stanley, ND; sister-in-law, Beverly Bjerketvedt of Battle Lake; friends, Delores Bjerketvedt of Detroit Lakes, Mavis Olson of Battle Lake and her family, Johnny (Sue) Olson and family and David (Julie) Olson and family of Battle Lake and Judy (Kevin) Little and family of Coon Rapids; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Thale Bjerketvedt; five brothers, Thomas, Roy, Stillman, Vernon and Howard Bjerketvedt; four sisters-in-law, Othelia, Alice, Evelyn and Helen Bjerketvedt.
Funeral Service: 1:30 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church of rural Clitherall
Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake.
