William Dickey, 59, of Fergus Falls, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at his home.
William James Dickey was born on December 4, 1956, in Parkers Prairie, MN, the son of John T. and Phyllis (Lamfers) Dickey and grew up on the Dickey family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville. Bill attended elementary school at the Catholic School in Millerville where he served as an altar server and graduated from Brandon High School in 1975. He attended Fergus Falls Community College, receiving his Associates Degree, and transferred to Minnesota State University Moorhead, majoring in social work.
On July 22, 1978, Bill married Christi Packard at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, and they were blessed with two daughters.
Earlier in life, Bill was proud of his work as a "can truck driver" for the Millerville Creamery. In 1978, he began working at the Regional Treatment Center in Fergus Falls as a Residential Program Leader and was highly respected by his peers. Bill retired in 2012.
Over the years, Bill had many hobbies, interests, collected many things, and was a creative videographer. Most important to Bill was his family, faith, dancing with his wife, rock and roll, and muscle cars, a hobby he enjoyed with his brothers. He especially enjoyed time spent in his "band room" with his grandchildren making music. Bill was an avid volunteer and gave of his time to the American Cancer Society, Girl Scouts, and was involved in the Catholic Church. Truly a Good Samaritan, Bill wholeheartedly believed in random acts of kindness and could often be found assisting stranded motorists.
Bill is survived by his wife, Christi, of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Jessica (Andrew) Fjeld of Twin Valley, MN and Renae (Christopher) Goltz of Glyndon, MN; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Henry, Maxwell, Lucas, Emma, and Abigail Fjeld; Alexander and Elizabeth Goltz; ten siblings, John (Mona) of Donnelly, Jane (Bob) Scheff of Memphis, Indiana, George (Bev) of Evansville, Barb (Roger) Johnson of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Gene (Jeannie) of Alexandria, Mark (Sharon) of Andover, MN, Tom (Ginny) of Millerville, Joe of Millerville, Don (Ruth) of Brandon and Pat (Lisa) of St. Cloud.
