William "Bill" Fogard, 83, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
William Leonard Fogard was born July 4, 1928 to Leonard and Ivy (Burns) Fogard, the oldest of 12 children, in Maine Township, rural Underwood, Minnesota. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. Bill graduated from Underwood High School in 1946 and did odd jobs until his enlistment in the Air Force in 1950. He served in the 51st Fighter Wing, serving in Korea, during the Korean Conflict until 1953. Bill married Audrey Corrine Anderson in 1962, they later divorced.
Bill attended the Minnesota School of Business, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and University of Utah. He worked in several Minnesota counties, along with California, Utah and Idaho. Bill returned to Minnesota in 1976. Bill and Audrey Corrine Thompson were married on October 21, 1987; they lived in Fergus Falls where he had worked with the Otter Tail County DAC and Lakes Homes, with his last job being part-time with Meadow Farm Foods. Bill and Audrey would go to the City Bakery every morning for coffee, and on Sunday mornings they would enjoy breakfast at the Viking Café before church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, model airplanes and was known for his flower and vegetable gardens. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Fergus Falls VFW.
Bill is survived by is wife, Audrey; children, Duane (Kristin) Fogard of Duluth, Cynthia Fogard of Minneapolis, Tammy (Dana) Schroeder, Bruce (Shari) Johnson, Karla (Kevin) Swiontek, Julie Fick, Mark (Dawn) Johnson all of Fergus Falls and Paula (Kurt Anderson) Krog of Erhard; 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathryn (Orion) Bakken of Underwood, Doris (Wardell) Felstet of Mizpah, Larry Fogard of Underwood, Victor Fogard, Mary (Ron) Hamilton, Verona Crowell and Dennis (Wendy) Fogard all of Fergus Falls; 2 brothers-in-law, Norman (Cheryl) Muchow of Fergus Falls, David (Bev) Muchow of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Barbara Muchow of Maplewood; special friend, Donna Umlauf of Fergus Falls; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ivy Fogard; four brothers, Lester, Ronald, Robert and James Fogard; and 2 nephews, Brian Felstet and Brad Bakken.
Funeral Services: 2 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
