William Luebke, 71 of Spokane, Washington formerly of Erhard passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, in Spokane after a brief battle with a rare and aggressive cancer.
William Luebke was born December 26, 1943 in Fergus Falls, MN to Frank and Bertha (Boeder) Luebke. He attended a one room schoolhouse through the 8th grade graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1961.
Bill enlisted in the US Navy, was honorably discharged in 1964 and then began a 45 year career in the trucking industry. His career took him to teach at Spokane Community College and North Idaho College in their trucking departments. Bill loved passing his knowledge and experience on to his students who in turn appreciated him for his patience and commitment to them. Bill's love of fishing took him to Alaska almost every summer sharing the experience with his son Andrew, family members and friends. After years of fishing he was still looking for that once in a lifetime catch! Travel to Hawaii was a favorite destination visiting all islands with friends and family along with cruising and many family road trips.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 42 years, brother and sister, George Luebke and Debra Samuelson both of MN; daughter, Crystal Wangler (Rodney) ND; son, Andrew Luebke (Jolene) WA; grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Brandon and Riley Wangler, and Makenah Lybbert Luebke; great grandchildren, Cayden and Brandy Wangler; sister-in-law, Linda Bowman (Dennis); nephew, Gary Stookey and niece, Gloria Stookey. Bill was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Elroy and Melvin.
A local gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 19th at Tonseth Lutheran Church of rural Erhard.
Memorials preferred to the Tonseth Lutheran Cemetery Association.
The Glende-Nilson Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
