Gerald Strauch, 83 of Fergus Falls died Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the Broen Home.
Gerald Joseph Strauch was born on December 25, 1932, in Dora Township of Otter Tail County, MN, the oldest of thirteen children born to George John Strauch and Evelyn Marie (Finnegan) Strauch. He was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent, MN.
On September 3, 1955, he married Shirley Dahring. They resided in Millerville, MN and then moved to Fergus Falls in 1956. The couple were the parents of six children. Gerald was employed by the Dent Creamery in 1954 and Millerville Creamery from 1955 to 1956 and at the Mid-American Dairy in Fergus Falls where he worked as an engineer for 38 years. He retired from the Mid-American Dairy in 1985. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Gerald's hobbies included reading, opera music, photography and riding motorcycle. He has been a resident of the Broen Home since 2008.
He is survived by his six children: Evangeline (Dennis) Johnson, Bernie (Roberta) Strauch, Cynthia (Marc) Hanson, and John Strauch all of Fergus Falls, Bruce Strauch (Belen Gutierrez) of San Antonio, TX and Rose (Richard) Anderson of Detroit Lakes; nine grandchildren: Tyler, Casey and Ted (Mary) Strauch, Sonia Strauch, Tina (Paul) Watson, Matthew and Alex Strauch, Derek Anderson and Megan (Brandon) Tschirhart; four great-grandchildren; eleven brothers and sisters: Stanley (Karen) Strauch of Elbert, CO, Joan Lorang of Sioux Falls, SD, Patricia (Don) Eich of Alexandria, MN, Claude (Mary Ann) Strauch of Richville, MN, Kathleen (Fred) DeWeese of Franklin, TN, Rebecca(Stanley Zupnik) Way of Cabin John, MD, Mary Susan (Ed) Biggins of Orange Park, FL, Thomas Strauch of Newnan, GA, Corrine Hayden of Fergus Falls, Priscilla (Mark) Hovland of Fergus Falls and Theresa Lake of Fargo, ND and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn and a brother, James Strauch
In lieu of flowers memorial preferred to the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Funeral Services: 12:00 P.M., Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
