Ann Lake

Ann Marguerite (Beckmann) Lake peacefully met her Lord Thursday morning July 19, 2018. Ann was born Saturday, April 5, 1919, to John and Emma (Meinke) Beckmann in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Moorhead High School and Moorhead State Teachers College. She began her teaching career in Brandon, MN.

On June 2, 1948, she married N. Rollo (Rollie) Lake in Minneapolis, MN where Rollie was attending the University. After graduation, they moved to Fergus Falls and then to their farmstead near Underwood, MN. Once she had raised their three children, Ann returned to her beloved career teaching English, journalism, drama, and speech at the Underwood High School. Ann was very involved in her community with groups such as the American Legion Auxiliary, Study Club, and Messiah Lutheran Church. Rollie and Ann loved to travel, visiting all 50 states, Europe, and Scandinavia.

Ann had a thankful heart, great humor, and a quick wit. She found strength in her family, friends, and the Lord.

She is survived by her children, Susan Lake, Tom (Leigh) Lake and Linda (Douglas) Otterson; son-in-law, Alvin Olson; grandchildren, Paul Olson, Dana (Marce’) Otterson, Kayla Otterson, Michael (Julie) Lake, Timothy Lake, Josh Lake, Megan (Stuart) Edgerly, James (Danielle) Svendsgaard and Allison (Todd Smith) Svendsgaard; great-grandchildren, Dillen, Olivia & Alexander, Ellie & Brynn; and special care giver and friend, Sharon Hasse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollie; infant son, John and sister, Janet “Dode” Beaton.

Memorial visitation will be held Thursday August 2 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with prayer service at 6:30 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home. Fergus Falls

Funeral will be held on Friday August 3 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to service at the Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Underwood

Burial will be held later at Wennersborg Cemetery, rural Kensington
